AOCF newsletter 21st - 25th September 2009

Hey AOCFers,

How's your week been? Assignments and tests as usual. Haaaaiihh!!. Oh yea, reminder that the exam timetable is already out. Do not forget to check it out.

Anyway, here are the following notices:

FRIDAY MEETING

As usual,

Time: 5.30pm
Venue: Maclaurin Chapel

What will be talked in AOCF this Friday? Anyone here has facebook? Pretty sure most of you are regular facebook users. Don't deny that!. Muahahahahha. So yes, Ben Carswell, one of the TSCF staff worker will be coming to AOCF to give a talk on facebook and friends. Most of you may think "eeew, what a cheesy topic". Trust me, he gave this talk at mid-year conference and it was not what I expected. I would highly recommend you to come and hear this talk. Also, think of why do we need to fellowship among our friends aka importants to have friends around you, especially when you're in university. So yea, please DO BE ON TIME this time.
After that, we'll be heading off to food alley for dinner. I think this time I will take the Pad Thai. Yuuumm!!
I know that most of us are tied up with assignments and stuffs but do get to spend sometime in AOCF, especially on Friday evenings and fellowship among yourselves. It's probably just 4 hours out of your whole week. We want you to have fun and feel belong and also grow together spiritually. If you do not take the first step, you wouldn't know what will be the outcome.

IMPACT GROUP

Impact group will commence as usual starting from tomorrow. Sign up for one of the 4 groups as listed below. Here in IG, we learn the bible and discuss it together as a group. It's like you studying as a group in university. Somehow it is more effective than studying alone ( well, research says so...hehehehe...).
Do you want to be in TEAM....

eReach!

eReach! is about evangelistic outreach. We want to impact this campus with the reality of Jesus. And for the whole of this week we've been giving out free milo as a way of initiating conversation with the students on campus, and giving out flyers to them about Jesus Week...and influencing them with our love. We NEED your help! And we also have gospel sharing occuring around the OCF tent in the quad just outside the Recreation Centre. We're using the tent as a meeting place for us to head out to share the gospel and to come back and meet, and it's also the place where we're giving out free milo. Think of it as bringing OCF out into the campus. It's happening everyday for the rest of this week from 11 to 2pm. And from next week onwards, it'll be happening 11am to 2pm every TUESDAY :D so please do pop along if you wanna observe how to share the gospel and to learn how to share, or even if it's to help out give out milos...it's been a great way of making friendships with the students around us with the intention of sharing Jesus with them.

what : eReach! evangelistic outreach. mix of GST (Gospel Sharing Team) and free milo.
when: everyday for the rest of this week from 11-2pm, and also EVERYDAY TUESDAY 11-2PM from now on.
bring: a smile, a loving spirit, and a desire to see this campus changed for jesus! :D

Due to the rainy days this week, eReach will be on Friday instead. Same time and same place.

Prayer Meeting
Prayer meeting commences every Monday at 11am in Maclaurin Chapel. Come along and pray together with some of us. If you have anything you want to pray for, or whatever you've been struggling with, come long and pray. For more info, please look for Abigail at 02102549191

22If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."
Matthew 21:22

ONE DAYS WAGES

OCF is doing a one day wages pledge for IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students), which AOCF is a part of, through TSCF. Basically this works by offering one day of your wages if you are working to IFES. If you aren't working, we encourage you to find a one-off job and then pledge the money to IFES. Further offerings to our staff workers in Fiji, India and Ecuador will be much appreciated :)

Each year TSCF groups like OCF are asked to consider a pledge towards helping other student groups like ours around the world. This year OCF pledged $2500 to helping other groups like UESI in India. Money given to UESI helps provide for Theological training for staff workers in that country. Some of this pledge goes to provide transport costs and scholarship to Fiji and PNG students and staff coming to our Student leadership conference in November in Paraparaumu. Such training and theological education helps these groups to deepen their relationship with Jesus and grow their group.

Still, this is all free will, not a MUST. If you're willing to donate, please see Wei Lin on Friday during AOCF. =)

WORSHIP BIBLE STUDY

What is it you may ask? But ask yourself what is worship all about? Is it just holding the microphone and standing up there and sing? Or is there more than that? If you want to get involve in the AOCF worship team, this is the chance for you to learn on what is the meaning of worship based on the bible and other sources as well.

The session commences every Wednesday at 6pm till 8pm in one of the rooms in the Engineering Library. There will be discussions and opinions regarding worshipping God through songs etc etc. This is recommendable for those who are already involve in the worship team in AOCF but it is totally open for everyone. =)
