AOCF newsletter 27th - 31st July 2009

Hey AOCFers,

How was your first week? Good? Bad? How is your timetable this semester compared to the last semester? So far no assignments and tests yet but soon it will come in piles. Gosh!!.

Ok ok. No point for me keep worrying about this. Let me keep you up to date on what is going on sometime this week and the week after.

Friday Meeting

As usual,

Venue : Maclaurin Chapel
Time : 5pm

According to the dictionary, evangelism means the practise of speading the gospel. As simple as it may sound, will it be easy if you actually do it to other people? Do you actually have the courage and boldness to evangelise to people around the campus? This Friday, a pastor from the Auckland Chinese Presbyterian Church (ACPC), Graeme will be coming to OCF to give an inspirational talk on evangelism. It is something that you may want to apply it in your life next time. So I do highly encourage you to come and join the evangelism talk in conjunction of Jesus Week on week 3. Also, do bring along your friends as they might want to learn something about it as well.

ORIENTAL ORIENTATION LUNCH

It's on THIS Saturday at Emperor's Garden Restaurant, encourage you all to come especially if you're a newcomer to OCF and also for the old-timers too so we can all mix and mingle with the new-er ones! Peking Duck will be on the menu as well for Saturday, along with other dishes. BUT! I need a confirmation of numbers for the lunch so I can pass it to my uncle, I already have around 35 names down from last Friday night, and we still have plenty more spaces for more! So if you're keen to come, please send a text to me (Raymond ) on 021 1234 898, or alternatively just come see me or Kelvin or Elena on Friday night and we'll put your name down on the list. And we would greatly appreciate it if you can bring the exact $14 in cash on Friday night, because otherwise it'll be an epic mess if all 50 of us pay individually on the Saturday! :D and then straight after the lunch, the evangelism/jesus-week training will be on and we'll be providing transport from the lunch to the evangelism/jesus-week training session which'll be held in my church in City, and I'll highly encourage you to come along to it, it'll only be a short 2 hour session on how to share the gospel...continue to read the following...

price: $14 per person.
where: Emperor's Garden Restaurant
how to get there: meeting at OCF chapel at 1145am sharp and we'll have cars taking you there.
when: THIS saturday 1st of august at 12pm
see: Raymond 021 1234 898

EVANGELISM AND JESUS-WEEK TRAINING!

And SO after the lunch, we'll be having a short and sweet 2-hour evangelism/jesus-week training on how to tell others about Jesus. As you all may know, there'll be gospel sharing times throughout the week next week from 11am to 2pm as well as various other events being held during the week. And we want to make the most of these opportunities to be able to tell our classmates, our friends, and the people we meet about Jesus. Andy Shuddall will be coming in to do a short training session on what things we should say when we share about Jesus, how we should share, the attitude and spirit we should have, as well as practical ways of sharing. And I'll be doing a short demonstration on how to use one of our evangelism tools - the Soularium. We want to be prepared and trained for Jesus Week, a week of raising awareness of Jesus and a week of sharing the gospel to our fellow students on this campus.

We'll be giving people rides at the end of the lunch straight to the evangelism/jesus-week training which'll be held at my church in City.

when: THIS saturday 1st of august 3pm to 5pm.
where: Auckland Chinese Presbyterian Church (ACPC) 105 Vincent Street, City. - for those coming to the lunch, transport will be provided from the lunch to the training -

PRAYER

As you all know, next week will be Jesus' week! (= *yes, the excitement is mounting!*
And we want you to PARTNER with us to PRAY for the week. Remember, apart from God, we can do nothing - and we really need to pray that God's Spirit will guide, empower and accomplish immeasurably than all we ask or imagine through all of us.
- we will be having:
1. Prayer meetings every week at the chapel NEXT WEEK starting at 8, so do drop by and join us!
2. A 2-hour-long prayer meeting THIS friday 11-1pm at the chapel, organised by YWAM (Youth With a Mission) to pray for Jesus week.

Even if you can't make it for any of the events above, please set aside a few minutes each day to pray for the week.
Here are a few things you can pray for :)
- Let us pray that for God's Spirit to work in many hearts so many will come to know Christ
- Pray for our brothers and sisters involved in the various events through out the week including: Worship Team, Dialogue Discussion, and Speakers.
- Pray for BOLDNESS and sensitivity to God's Spirit as the Word of God is preached.
- Unity amongst Christians on campus as we go out to share.

Verse Search
Name the following verses
1 )
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own".

2 ) "When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and to them were given seven trumpets."

3 ) " Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying: "A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up."

That's all for now. Have a pleasant week. Take care and God bless.
